1/4”x 3/8”x 9” roof trim cap.
(1) 4”x 7” pre-cut and drilled front former. (2)

(1) 2-7/8”x 8-3/4” clear acrylic roof panel. (1)
12” L piece of cord.
(1) 2-3/4”x 8-3/4” “ “ “ “ (1)
1/2"x 3-1/4”x 8” foam sheet.
(4) 1/4" sq. x 2-7/16” vertical corner pieces. (2) half
popsicle stick shims
(4) (2L & 2R) 1/4” x 3/8” x 2-13/16” slotted (2)
1/8” plywood gluing clamps. roof
pitch pieces.
STEP 1 Installing
the roof pitch strips.
Dry
fit a left and right roof pitch strip on
the front former, (the taller one with the extra
hole in the bottom) aligning the bottom of
of the strip with the drawn lines on the
former. The angled end should be even
with the edge of the former. (see picture)
Apply glue to the backside of each strip,
place on former and hold in place with
clothespins. Go easy on the glue and
remove any that squeezes out. Repeat
the procedure for the rear former.
*Note: If
your clothes pins don’t reach in
far enough to hold the strips
flat, then sit the former on
a flat surface and place a weight
on
the strips till the glue dries.
**Caution: Whichever
method you use, ensure that the strips
don’t
“slide” off
the marks.
STEP 2 Installing
the vertical corner pieces.
Dry
fit each piece before proceeding. Align as
shown. Apply glue to the backside and the
angled end. Hold in place with clothespins.
STEP 3 Installing
the side panels.

*It will be necessary to first install the 3/16”x 7/8” dowel
hinge pins in the rear holes of the base panel.
Push or tap each pin lightly, leaving
approx.
3/8” exposed. Place the base on a flat surface
with the **chamfered edge “up”. Slide each
side panel over the hinge pins.
*(Some kits have the pins already installed)
**See part I.D. sheet for clarity.
.
Dry
fit the front and rear formers with the side
panels, holding them in place with masking tape. Remove the masking tape
from either the
front or rear former. Remove former. Apply
glue along the side strips and former edge
where the side panels will contact. Install
the former and realign side panels. When
former is in place, wipe off excess glue
and slide the holding jigs in place (see
picture) until the glue dries. Repeat the procedure
for the other former.
*Note: If
holding jigs fit loosely, add
pieces of masking
tape
on the inside edges as necessary.
**Note When
installing the rear former, use
the popsicle stick shims under the former,
so it sits up, slightly off of the base. Without
that space, your “garage” will not tilt
open all the way.
***Caution: Ensure
that there is no glue between the side panels
and the base, or the base and the formers.
STEP 4 Installing
the clear roof panels.
One of the roof
panels is slightly narrower
than the other. Slide the narrower panel
into the roof pitch slots first. Then slide
the remaining roof panel in place. Apply
glue to each end of the roof trim strip and
push into place. (see picture)
Note: It is not necessary to glue the
roof panels in place. The roof trim strip will
retain them.
STEP 5 Installing
the handle and latch.
Slide the 3/8” dia. dowel through the holes in the formers
until
it is centered. If it fits loosely, add a drop of glue at each
former
to keep it in place.
Insert the “T” pin latch into the matching holes in
the front former
and the base. Tie one end of the cord to the “T” pin
latch and the other end
through the hole on the side of the former.
STEP 6 Fitting
and installing the foam on the base.
Center
your car on the foam piece and mark with masking
tape, the front, rear, and outside edge
where each wheel contacts the foam. Cut a 5/16”
wide by 1-1/8” long block for each wheel with an Xacto
or sharp pocket knife. Use the edges of
the masking tape as a guide. Your car should fit
snugly in the foam. Remove your car and center
and glue the foam piece to the wood base. Use clothespins
to hold the foam in place until the
glue
dries.
Congratulations!! Your Pine Car Mobile Garage is finished.
You
can of course personalize it by painting it or adding decals with
your
name or car name and number or pack or troop or a racing team
name,
etc., etc.
