Grooves are fine except that it is very difficult to insert the axle into the groove so that it is level. If the axle is not level, the wheel will ride on the axle head or the car body slowing the car down. When a race can be won by a fraction of an inch, it is important that your car has every advantage. Our blocks will give you the following advantages. Choose between standard and extended axle spacing. Choose between one raised wheel or all four wheels on the ground. Holes, not grooves. Precision drilled for true axle alignment. Axles are perfectly level so the wheel can "float" between the car body and axle head for minimum friction. Made from sugar pine - very easy to cut and shape. Baked for lighter weight so that you can place the weights where they do the most good.

All of our speed products now have a "Speed Rating". The number in the red arrow is the number of inches that were gained at the finish line by using this product on our test track. Our test track is only 28 feet long so you can expect a larger gain on typical 32' to 45' tracks. You can use this number to compare the relative speed advantages of our various products.

Weights The heavier your car is, the faster it will go. Bring your car up to the 5 oz maximum with our weights. Most cars require 2 to 4 oz of additional weight.
	Wire Weights Can be easily cut to any length Total weight = 3.5 oz $3.95	These 1/4" diameter lead weights can be easily cut with wire cutters, diagonal pliers or other cutting tools. These weights can be inserted into the bottom, back or side of your car. A 5/16" drill bit is required to drill the holes in your car block.

	Barrel Weights 1/2 oz weights in six segments Total weight = 3 oz $3.95	Barrel weights are inserted into the back or bottom of your Pinewood Derby car. Tungsten Weights Tungsten is more dense than lead and is completely safe to handle.The higher density allows you to put more weight in the back of your car where it does the most good.
